Frequently asked questions
What kind of text can it read?
Printed and typed text in photos, screenshots, scans and on-screen video — such as lecture slides, receipts, result slips and book pages.
Are my pictures or videos uploaded?
No. The words are read on your own device. DigiCompress never receives your file or the text in it.
Why is the first time a little slower?
The first time you pick a language, your browser fetches a small language pack from our website so it can read the letters. It keeps it for next time, and your picture is never sent anywhere.
Does video-to-text transcribe speech?
No. It reads the words that appear on screen, not what people say.
Is DigiCompress free?
Yes. You can shrink 3 files a day without an account. Sign in with Google or an email link to use it as much as you like. We don’t sell anything inside the tool, and we never ask for payment details.
